The Arizona presidential primary is almost upon us, so the Tucson Weekly is once again sponsoring Project White House.
Project White House is the Weekly’s way of encouraging ordinary folks to run for president on Arizona’s primary ballot. The Weekly helps promote the candidacies by publishing videos and statements by the candidate on the paper’s blog. Oh, and the so-called “serious” candidates are invited to participate too, even though none did in ’08.
Then-secretary of state Jan Brewer complained about the Weekly and Project White House back in 2008 for making a mockery of the process. Ken Bennett may be tempted to do the same, but when Herman Cain is regarded as a serious presidential candidate and Donald Trump is being talked up as a debate host, it’s fair to say that this process is beyond mockery.
